How Does Accreditation Work?
Manhattan Tech is on the standard pathway, which is a 10-year cycle for maintaining accreditation with HLC that is focused on quality assurance and institutional improvement. It includes:
- Regular Monitoring
- Annual Institutional Update reports
- Reporting of any substantial changes (new programs or additional locations)
- Comprehensive Evaluations
- Years 4 & 10
- Interim Monitoring, as needed
What is a Comprehensive Evaluation?
Comprehensive evaluations include:
- Assurance Review – Manhattan Techwill submit an Assurance Argument and Evidence File to demonstrate compliance with HLC’s Criteria for Accreditation
- Federal Compliance Review (10-year visit)
- Student Opinion Survey – HLC will conduct an independent online survey of the institution’s student body two months prior to the on-site peer review to give students an opportunity to participate in the evaluation process
- On-site Peer Review Visit – After reviewing the Assurance Review and student survey results, an HLC peer review team will develop a meeting schedule and spend approximately 1½ days on campus
What Happens After a Comprehensive Evaluation?
The peer review team will submit an final report of their findings for each criterion core component within 4-6 weeks from the visit. Manhattan Techcan review this final report for errors of fact before the team submits it to HLC. The final team report and Manhattan Techresponse to that report are then sent to HLC's Institutional Actions Council for review and a decision.
