Information for Students & Guests
Important Information
- Please arrive no later than 45 minutes before the ceremony. Dressed in your cap and gown. Check-in at the registration table to obtain your name card.
- Upon check-in you will be directed to be staged with your program alphabetically and will remain there until directed to walk to your seat.
- Please leave all valuables in your locked car or with your guests as there will be no location to store purses, keys, etc.
Parking
- Students and guests, please park in the UCC (marked with a star) or surrounding parking lots.
- Please note there is limited parking. Attendees are welcome to leave vehicles at MATC and carpool to UCC.
Guests
- For each ceremony, seating for guests will begin 30 minutes before the start of the ceremony.
- Seating is first-come, first-serve. Please ask your guests to be seated upon entry.
- There is accessible seating located both upstairs and downstairs at the facility.
- A live stream of the ceremony will be made available. The link for the viewing will be posted here: https://manhattantech.edu/commencement.
- Manhattan Tech will be taking photos of graduates after they walk across the stage. A picture of each graduate with their award will be available no later than June 14th, 2024, and can be found here: https://manhattantech.edu/SP24CommencementPhotos
- Guests are asked not to leave their seats during the ceremony.
Attire
- Please wear appropriate clothing under your gown, i.e., collared shirts, slacks, dress shoes, etc. If in doubt, it is probably not appropriate!
- Students must wear a cap, gown, and tassel upon arrival at the facility.
- Tassels are worn on the right side of the cap until the degree is received. The president will direct all students when to move their tassels to the left.
Ceremony
- Everyone will be seated by program and in alphabetical order within their program.
- When it is time to receive your award, you will need to give your name card to the presenter by the podium. Wait for your name to be read before walking across the stage. You will receive your award, then exit the stage.
- After walking across the stage, please follow the ushers’ instructions for pictures and then return to your seat.
When do I receive my award in the mail?
- Participants at the commencement will receive a leather diploma cover during the ceremony.
- Your award and ONE official transcript will be mailed to the address verified at check-in. If you need an official transcript before receiving your free transcript in the mail, you will need to make a formal request and pay the fee.
- Awards and official transcripts will be mailed 12-14 weeks after final grades are posted, and ALL outstanding student obligations are completed. These obligations may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Financial Aid exit counseling
- Paying off your student account balance
- Successful completion of the Intent to Graduate Application.
